If charter schools really do so well with educating children with special needs, does it not make sense for many more children with autism and other developmental disabilities to attend these schools? Why aren't the charter schools clamoring for more?
While I am very disappointed that Mayor Bloomberg selected a new schools chancellor with no experience whatsoever in public education, I have to remain optimistic that our NYC kids will not be shortchanged in any way.
Arne Duncan gave a speech in Wasghinton D.C. about the value of arts education. It was a very good speech, but when you look at all the recent K-12 initiatives of the Obama administration, arts education is all but missing.
