I have come to hate depression as fervently as anyone has ever hated cancer, or AIDS, or any of the other scourges that take our loved ones from us. Over the five years I knew her, I watched it slowly devour my friend.
The adrenaline rush is over. The long rebuilding and recovery is ahead. The urgency of surviving gives way to the sadness of personal loss and infrastructure devastation and day after day of work. What is the spiritually intelligent response? Here are some of my ideas. I welcome yours.
All of us have vocational moments or experiences in our lives that God uses to reveal our passion and purpose in life. For me, these vocational moments evolve into a deeper calling to ordained ministry.
