My point here is not to insinuate that all of our current reactions are merely reactions to our past. It's simply to offer a new way of looking at the world that can help us make sense of some of our perceptions that may be off and to alter our behavior accordingly.
How can a popular brand go from being at the top to almost forgotten?

While we can't turn off our brain's natural tendency to lump people and things together, we can understand and help influence the meaning we assign to those categories and to push ourselves to think beyond the stereotype. But it takes effort.
