I think it's hardly an accident that Mercury retrograde has become part of the zeitgeist: it's exactly the antidote we need for our time-impoverished, speed-addicted society.

And so, this Earth Day, let us in turn praise those wise tribes of trees among whom we live. Long after we are gone---if we protect them---they will still be standing, memory-keepers of our time on the planet.

Light -- the radiance of spiritual illumination -- has always been celebrated by the world's religions. Yet like a season of the soul, the darker emotion of despair offers a different kind of illumination.
