The idea that the government shutdown isn't about deficits or controlling spending levels, but about placing restraints on reproductive care and controlling what a woman can do with her body leaves me kind of uncomfortable.

The Republican Party would like you to think the debate over anti-choice legislation is about valuing life. Rest assured it is not; we all value life. It's about the belief that the rights of an individual should be valued above all else.

Women have the most to gain from the Affordable Care Act, which the Republican majority in the House will vote to repeal Wednesday. Prior to passage of the law, women faced severe discrimination from health insurance companies.
