Republican Party Gays

It has been five weeks since I came out in a very public way. I'm doing this for LGBT kids who are bullied simply for being themselves, for the young man who committed suicide a few weeks ago. The most important thing any gay American can do is come out.

I admit that there are many Republicans who don't believe we gay individuals deserve equal rights. But not all Republicans share the views of Rick Santorum. Gay activists should rise above the fray and fight with facts rather than emotion.

Dear gay Republicans: Rick Santorum's surge and near-win in Iowa should be a wake-up call: your party hates you. I don't understand how you can look beyond the fact that a major portion of your party's fundamental beliefs are that you are not equal.

After Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum finished head to head in the Iowa Caucus, I thought this would be an ideal time to talk to Clarke about the GOP candidates running for president and where they stand on gay rights.
