My recovery from work addiction helped me to see that my issues were not unique to me. I was able to put things into a perspective that enabled me to recognize the cultural, social and institutional factors that contribute to the dysfunction that showed up at home and in the workplace.
As another birthday was approaching, I wondered when I would finally feel like a grown-up. I was over 50, yet still didn't quite know what those words meant. I was responsible. I was mature. Heck, I had wrinkles, so why didn't I feel grown up?
It is my right to exercise free speech and it is the government's duty to uphold that right. So, what are my minimum duties as an American to my government, my nation, and my fellow citizens, and how do I know those are my duties?
