That's an easy, simple truth. It can't be politicized, analyzed or reduced to anything other than what it is: reality. My brother is dead because of a gun. You can lump him into a statistic. You can break down the circumstances. But at the end of the day, what can I really say that will call you to action?
Donald Trump, like no other candidate can, embodies the right wing's rapid descent into mindlessness and their embrace of know-nothingism. With Trump, there is nothing there besides the huge eponymous banner announcing "Trump" that appears on all his possessions, a bluster, and a golden combover seemingly forever frozen in place.
I am a Southern, white, gun-owning male who worries that one day my family will have to pay the price for America's unwillingness to stand up to the gun lobby. Let me be very clear: I am not opposed to personal gun ownership. What I am opposed to is the gun lobby's stranglehold on our elected leaders.
I am now for a Second Amendment with no interpretation whatsoever. Let's completely and utterly unfetter the Second Amendment from the outlandish suggestions of the type I've made until just now. The Second Amendment, unfettered, makes no exclusion for incarcerated felons. And so, neither should we.
