Halloween is fast approaching and all the excitement that has been building all month is finally going to come to a head on Wednesday, Oct. 31, a night of trick-or-treaters, Halloween parties, monster movie marathons and haunted houses.
The great thing about America is that I can choose not to go see The Devil Inside. The terrible thing about America is that I can't choose not to see the trailer for The Devil Inside. To be honest, I had it coming.
I'm sure we're all sick and tired of seeing countless "scariest movies of all time" lists every Halloween. By limiting the list to the last twenty years, we automatically discount most of the staples that usually fill up such lists.
The Children isn't the most violent film, nor the goriest or showiest. It haunts because it boils itself down to an unanswerable question: would you kill your own sick children to prevent them from killing you?
