It is not helpful to our foreign policy for two lone California lawmakers to issue an unrealistic statement in the final weeks of a high-stakes debate urging Congress to reject an international agreement.

Turkey's Best Asset to Tackle ISIS: Ankara or America?

Michael Shank, Ph.D. | Posted 06.17.2015 | World
Michael Shank, Ph.D.

There is no Hizmet Movement plan to take over Ankara, no desire to rule the religious roost. In fact, in my meeting with Islamic scholar and preacher Fethullah Gulen, America was lauded for its religious freedoms. That was the model offered up. Not a Muslim state but a state where all religions are supported in their practice. Turkish President Erdogan should take note.

Obama Is Wrong That ISIS Is 'Not Islamic'

Alastair Crooke | Posted 11.18.2014 | World

ISIS, in short, is as Wahhabist -- or more so -- as the Saudi King, Abdullah. There is here, surely, a delicious irony in Obama and Kerry taking upon their shoulders the task of seeking the "delegitimization" of the very doctrine from which the Saudi kingdom is derived. The only upholder of "true Islam" and custodian of Mecca happens to share the "same" Islam as ISIS. How can King Abdullah then denounce it? And how could any Muslim, familiar with the issues, take any such denunciation -- were it to be made -- seriously?

John Kerry's recent comments suggest that there is a minority who believe that climate mitigation costs outweigh the benefits: That is actually the mainstream perspective. The 'mainstream,' however, is sadly horribly wrong.
