Sitting down on the bus carrying us out through the stunning Darbyshire countryside to a cavern where we would watch an Opening Night film for the Sheffield Doc Fest, little did I know what the woman sitting next to me would come to represent for me.
The vibe at the Sheffield Doc Fest is simply fantastic. The city itself welcomes filmmakers, commissioners, composers and producers from all over the world, and gives back warmth and appreciation for their work.
Documentaries tell us who we are, what our world is about, and give us the truth. But more and more these filmmakers find themselves, especially in the US, attacked by layer upon layer of lawsuits funded by corporations with deep pockets.
