What does love have to do with religion? For so many Jews, especially in America, the answer is, regretfully, nothing. For many, the idea of practicing Judaism is wrapped up in a sense of obligation and fear -- a responsibility to not let something so old die out.
Most of the time, a song gets stuck inside your head for hours, days courtesy of a catchy chorus or well-written verse. In the case of Bastille, however, their orca-whale-sized hit "Pompeii" produced a mind gloriously filled with repeated "eh ohs."
Jewish wisdom reminds us that knowledge is not significant if it doesn't engage, mobilize, and connect. Disinterested information doesn't constitute wisdom until it can inspire awe, deepen comprehension, and inspire transformation.
