I often say, "Let's meet for coffee." But I never really meet anyone for "coffee." I don't drink coffee. It's more of a figurative statement. It's like when you say, "Sure, I'd love to hear your band play sometime." You don't literally mean it.
The Newtown Starbucks sits right next door to the church that laid several children to rest just 8 months ago. The wounds are still fresh and slow to heal. Taunting this community with a display of guns is unconscionable.
The plates reminded me of dinners in our old house, and looking around the living room, I could imagine my father (who had passed away 27 years ago this month) sitting on the sofa. Each clang of the grandfather clock reminded me of being a little girl.
