A few weeks ago, I climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro. During the seven days' climb on the Rongai Route, I thought about the many lessons the mountain was teaching me, lessons that can be applied to implementing a sustainability program within an organization.
Much of recent sustainability thinking has been about bringing the larger social web back into executive decision making. Unfortunately, that shift is happening piecemeal and within the traditional business mindset.
A lot has been said and written about what it means for a company or organization to be a leader. Certainly the area of sustainability offers a myriad of opportunities for organizations, companies, and individuals to carve out a niche as a leader.
