With Technovation Dharavi, women pushed their daughters to go through the program and 15 girls actually created apps on safety for women, access to clean water and education. This is absolutely incredible considering that they competed with girls from the wealthiest schools in Silicon Valley.
With the goal of inspiring action and change, Women Enhancing Technology (WeTech) program was inaugurated in India on February 8, 2014. WeTech is a program helping more women and girls enter into, and succeed in careers and education in tech.
A talented young filmmaker approached us and told us about this group of women who were making laptop bags out of old sarees and were interested in learning about technology, so that they could make apps to market their products.
