Tragically, our world is broken, filled with want, war, human rights violations, disease and death. Thankfully, the United Nations shines a bright light in the darkness of human failings. Blind eyes see. Goodness chases evil.
This is a metaphor for ourselves. In this time of ecological turbulence, it is easy to become a bor, simply a holding place for information, a pool of fear or indifference in the face of frightening facts. We must resist this temptation.
The mandarins of New Delhi must be pleased as punch to have had over to visit leaders of all five permanent member countries in quick succession. Inexorable appears the march but will India find the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow?
