Though seemingly disorganized, Serenity Gathering managed to put together a beautiful festival in spite of oversold tickets and overworked staff. From the eyes of attendees, it was nothing but beautiful music, art, performances and oak trees.
Conformity isn't for everyone. Some kids are quickly tagged with the label "Does not play well with other children." Others grow up to become introverts, recluses, or people who see no need to keep up with the Joneses.
There is something about the Theremin, both its sound and the manner of its playing, that is almost comedic. The Theremin was and is however the sound of the future, albeit the sound of the future as first heard in the technologically-optimistic Soviet Russia of the 1920's.
"Among other things I do," says the British musician, "I'm the music director of an organization called TED or Technology, Education and Design. That's an annual get together of people sort of figuring out how to save the planet."
