The other day, I was about halfway through a piece on David Bowie's outstanding, genre-annihilating new album, Blackstar. Today, I write something new, a head full of Starman-studded memories, eyes damp with real tears.
"I wrote this song in a moment. It just flowed out of me one night and into my cell phone. I started singing because I liked the echo in my kitchen, but what kept me singing was the crazy situation I was in at that moment."
"We shot this soon after signing with Blue Note earlier this year, with our friend the filmmaker William DeVizia. It's a good look at what drew us to the label and vice versa, and how that all went into the recording of Shout!"
