My dad and I share a real fear of snakes. In fact, he still tells the story about how disappointed he was in himself as a young boy because in order to get a Boy Scout merit badge, he had to hold a snake... and he just couldn't bring himself to do it.
All of these new experiences produce fear. If I didn't feel afraid of trying some of this stuff, I would really be nuts. Fear lets me know that this is real, and there are consequences, and I am alive. Feeling the fear is a good part of this journey.
