Call it "bro code" (and yes, I cringe every time I say it), call it whatever you want. It doesn't matter. It's on display everywhere you turn -- in politics, business, higher education, Twitter -- everywhere. But it's especially blatant in sports.
Every person who participates in sports won't become a professional athlete. But everyone should have the same opportunities to chase their dreams. I may not have the same basketball gifts as a Kobe Bryant or LeBron James, but like them I was given a chance for equal play.
To watch the UConn women's basketball team break the UCLA men's team long-standing record of 88 consecutive wins has been a thrill. Unfortunately, people only pay attention to women's sports when we are competing in the men's arena.
