For salaried workers and for most two-income households, working on Thanksgiving or Christmas is the exception, not the rule. However, for minimum wage workers and those without job security, staying home is simply not an option.
Today we aren't working. I plan to relax after I make the stuffing, mash potatoes, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie, get the turkey in the oven, and clean the house. Maybe I should have worked today.
But wait a second -- other stores are guilty as well. However if no one wanted to shop on Thanksgiving, then no stores would be open. The true Thanksgiving-killer is the person who leaves the table and heads to the mall.
