Young Earth Creationism

What intrigues me about the ascension of Christ is not only what it tells me about the ancient world and its "scientific" knowledge of the universe, but also what it tells me about many Christians today.

In the name of protecting Christianity from a secularism perceived as corrosive to the faith, the creationists are unwittingly driving the best and brightest evangelicals out of the church.

My problem wasn't that I had become overly critical of other Christians. My issue had become that my pride had taken over against both Christians and atheists.

I can't excuse Christians giving fearful looks, whispering to their children about disruptive atheists, or avoiding atheists like the plague.

In going to the Creation Museum, I would be visiting a place where I not only disagree theologically with people but also with their entire culture war mentality.

Why is it that people on middle ground always seem to be on the "other" team? Has everyone in the country decided that there is only "us" and "them," so that "not us" equals "them"?

Make no mistake about it, William Dembski is a first order star in the intelligent design firmament. And yet, even his stellar creationist credentials were not enough to keep the inquisitors from his door.

Modern theology has replaced traditional theology. The mere fact that old-fashioned ideas persist does not mean that they can be legitimately used in an argument that religion is incompatible with science.

Studies continue to show that U.S. students' science literacy is very poor. The science curriculum advanced by creationist organizations make an already bad situation far worse.

There is hope for science education when locales that have been bastions for creationism begin to recognize that creationism is not scientific and that evolution is not a threat to religious belief.

While it is true that Americans consistently reject evolution to a greater extent than people in the rest of the developed world, creationism has increasingly become a matter of contention around the world.
