Luke appeared as the Nutcracker Prince in this season's opening night performance of the Tchaikovsky favorite. Yuan Yuan Tan joined him in the brilliant Grand Pas de Deux of Act II. The duo proved dynamic. "I'm at the stage where I still really enjoy doing Nutcracker," he said.
This season marks the 20th Anniversary of choreographer Val Caniparoli's immensely popular ballet, Lambarena. The work was created in 1995 for San Francisco Ballet and - at the heart of its inspirational force - Principal Dancer Evelyn Cisneros.
The Joffrey Ballet's extraordinary mixed bill, Stories in Motion, exploded onstage at the Auditorium Theatre in Chicago this past weekend: three ballets that trace a timeline of the infiltration of Modernism in ballet.
Choreographically, the ballet is devilish and the partnering is unbelievably hard! The biggest challenge though, is to master the choreography while transcending the difficulty of the steps to tell the story.
