Introducing S'mores Spaghetti - Wait, What!?

Are you sick and tired of traditional s'mores? Perhaps there just hasn't been as much innovation in the world of chocolate, marshmallow and graham crackers as you'd like. Well, why not try some s'mores spaghetti?

The brown "noodles" you see in the pictures are really made of Hershey's chocolate. The white ones? Melted marshmallow. Topping it all off are a couple crushed up graham crackers.

The chocolate and marshmallow noodles are made using agar powder, which is derived from algae and can be used to turn liquids into gels. The cooking process involves melting the chocolate and marshmallows in separate bowls and combining each one with a little bit of water, some milk and two grams of agar powder.

The mixture is then sucked up into a plastic syringe and injected into plastic tubing, which is placed in a bowl of ice water to allow the spaghetti to set. After a few minutes air is injected back into the plastic tubes thus pushing the finished noodles out the other end.

The great thing about agar powder is that it's completely tasteless, so when biting into the s'mores spaghetti all that your taste buds are met with are the flavors of chocolate and marshmallow.

Still not interested? perhaps you'd enjoy Peeps s'mores, deep fried s'mores, a s'moreo or a s'mores quesadilla instead!

Oddly enough, one could start touring in Virginville, PA, then spend a short time in Blue Ball, PA, hurry through Intercourse, PA and culminate your trip in Climax,PA. All in the Pennsylvania Dutch area.

It's definitely a little weird at first because since they look just like regular noodles (aside from the color obviously) your brain sort of wants them to taste like regular noodles, but in reality they taste just like marshmallow and chocolate.

meh, the whole enjoyment of a good smore is the melty sweet hot goodness. this is food science that does something cause it's possible and not to create something better. who cares if you can make olive oil powder using maltodextrin or glue lamb to scallops using transglutaminase if you can't find a good use for it or it's adversive to eat? :P

I use molecular gastronomy to make better stuff. I use an anti-griddle(flat super cold surface) and spread marshmallow spread on top. then I brulee or caramelize the top with a torch(while the bottom is still frozen cold). I spread a little melted dark chocolate on top then sprinkle graham crackers on top. I use a thin metal spatula to unstick the marshmallow from the surface and then roll it around a skewer. and viola, crunchy frozen marshmallow on the outside(like freeze dried ice cream!!) but hot warm caramelized marshmallow on the inside with hot melted chocolate and graham cracker bits. :D

Ummmmmm, pretty much anyone.... You can buy agar powder at tons of health food stores, and if you can't find it there you can find it online pretty easily.

Yep. Considering everyone has a plastic syringe, plastic tubing, and air compressor with tubing injector - just sitting around collecting dust in your pantry.

What's your aversion to agar powder? I'm not trying to be rude or anything, I'm just curious.
05:59 AM on 09/06/2012
Damn! Now I want some.

I just created it last weekend so no where yet, but if there was a restaurant out there that wanted to try serving it I'd be totally cool with that.

Dislike. Hershey's is not fair trade. They don't even try to be.

I definitely agree that there's much better chocolate out there but I grew up using Hershey's chocolate for s'mores, so that's sort of what I've always stuck with.

Plus, when making stuff like this s'mores spaghetti I never really know how it's going to turn out so I'd hate to spend a bunch of money on some really good chocolate and then end up throwing it away it it didn't work out.

I would rather spend the extra $2-5 to prevent children from having to work in awful conditions for little pay. Heaven forbid America tries something and it's not up to our "standards".

MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

um...yes, thank you. :) I'd try it if it was available on my grocer's shelf.
