Tyler Shields Paints With the Blood of the Rich and Famous (Video)

Posted: 05/ 9/11 02:23 PM ET

Celebrity photographer and master provocateur Tyler Shields has truly one-upped himself this time.

I don't want to spoil any of it, so watch the video. Suffice it to say that Tyler is a madman, and one of the most cutting edge artists around. His medium of choice this time around? The blood of 25 people.

Tyler Shields is absolutely awful; he's the Zack Snyder of the LA art circles. Honestly, he's to art and photography as Ed Hardy is to fashion.

and when those people are NOT famous, and someone forgets to mentin that it's OMG BLOOOD! will the artifacts have any residual visual attractiveness that we used to call artistic value ? (Think Vermeer, or even Picasso)

But I get it, you're pulling our collective readers' leg but it's too believable to be usefully ironic.

Actually, I wasn't sure at all that you were being facetious. I was being a little sarcastic myself, I thought. An awful lot of what passes for art "writing" here and especially in "art" magazines seems to have virtually NO connection with the rest of the world, not even the world of "Glee," Wills and Kate, Scarlett Johansen and "Jersey Shore" -- other than giving the address and hours of the gallery.
