In remembrance of the 4,000 brave men and women who sacrificed everything for us -- and the two men who would continue this great tragedy, despite the cost to our soldiers, our military, and our nation.

McCain has promised America 95 more years of this.

Just think of this: At this rate, McCain will sacrifice 80,000 more American lives, most of which have not even been born yet.

No he has not. He has promised 100 more years. The first 5 already happened when he said "another 100 years."

You're both wrong. He said that it would be ok if Americans remained there as long as needed, but only if they weren't being attacked, similar to the peaceful forces we have had for decades in Japan, S Korea, Germany. Anyone who says that he meant 100 years of war is lying.

Hopeful kids like me
their lives cut short
Never to see the sun
War is not s sport

Never to see the sun
I have to say again
I cannot believe they're dead
I can't believe they're dead

Not for this country but for two men
their motives unclear and suspect
Send them to war and sweep it under the carpet
let them forget why we started this war
four thousand dead and a collapsing market
I cannot believe kids like me have given their lives for this war
I cannot believe kids like me have given their lives for this war
I cannot believe they are no longer with us because of this war
I will see the sun again today and for a long time to come
their life is gone while the president mocks them in song

so, if you include the 650,000 - 1,000,000 total that have died in Iraq, that would give you, what, enough faces to complete a mosaic of the White House cabinet and all the members of Congress who supported/support the war?

BEST GENERAL ELECTION INFORMATION PIECE THAT SHOULD BE FRONT AND CENTER WHENEVER MCCAIN SHOWS HIS FACE IN PUBLIC.

War, as a political tool, is no longer and option for the United States of America in the 21st Century.

There is a special corner of Hell just waiting for Bush, Cheney, Rice and Rumsfeld. The spirits of 4000 dead soldiers will be dancing on their graves.

I believe the expression is a "special circle of Hell", refering to Dante's Inferno. But your intent is absolutely correct.

No doubt. That image stunned me. I can't remember a more condemning and effective anti war graphic. Terrible subject matter but incredibly important and poignant. I will be very interested in the reaction of both men. McCain will be especially incensed given his service record. He however has earned his place in the work with his pronouncements for continuing the war.

Many Americans are quite okay with perpetual warfare. It gives them something to watch on the teevee during the electoral off-seasons.

Where I'm from (the Dead Zone in the frozen rural northland), there's no sense of irony at the thought of sitting out "the most important military operation of the century" and at the same time, demanding war time tax cuts.

When one of their own comes back in a box (or a plastic bag), they get off on solemnly hanging the kid's portrait at the Legion Club. Then, it's Miller time.

Please HuffPo, post the name of the artist who created this!

The artist who created this is Nico Pitney himself. I'm certain it took a great deal of time and dedication, especially since, if you read his bio, he's on the editorial side of the house. I also believe it should be used as often as possible in the general election.

I wonder if Americans will plaster this as a bumper sticker on their SUV's with a slogan like 'never forget'.?

At the very least this image is in bad taste, at worst the very same tone and divisiveness as any GOP playbook.....

I got a call out the huffington post for this. This kind of thing is not helpful and it is exactly what Republicans point when they skewer Liberals....

You should really think about removing this image.

I disagree. This is exactly what everyone NEEDS to see to stop this terrible, useless, meaningless occupation. Hiding images like this is why the Rethuglican party has gotten away with this travesty for so long. Full disclosure is always better than secrecy. Make the Bu$hCo Crime Family see the faces of those who've died because of their immoral occupation.

That's like saying it's in bad taste to aggressively go after a tyrant. How bad of taste is it to be responsible for 4,000 unnecessary American deaths, and STILL be doing nothing about Bin Laden? How bad of taste is it to start an unnecessary occupation of a sovereign country, then mistreat the vets upon their return.

This isn't bad taste. This is an attack, and more Americans should be attacking this administration. Shame on you.

Why is honoring our dead in "bad taste"?

What really bad taste is having our kids die in a pointless war to achieve... what exactly? At this point, I can't tell.

In bad taste huh? I suppose not as much in bad taste as sending our troops to die in a war for profit, based on lies, that has nothing to do with terrorism. This is why America is so fucked up: We show more outrage over a photo than over 4000 dead bodies.

OK, the war is wrong. Now again, would you explain why it's OK to disrespect the dead to make your point?

Should we not think about these soldiers? Is it offensive to have to look at their faces? I suppose it strikes you as exploitative but face it, Bush and McCain are saying all of those lost lives are worth it. So, if you support the Republicans, you could regard this as a beautiful homage to the fallen soldiers and their connection to our fearless leaders. I however, think about how smug this administration is despite these casualties. I think of Bush dancing, singing and joking about WMD's. I think of their comforts, decadent dinners, cozy beds and perpetual insulation from our soldier's realities and frankly, our realities (as citizens) in contrast to the grief and loss of the families of the soldiers (as well as the financial burdens, lost limbs and of course the little issue of 4,000,000 Iraqi refugees).

Art is meant to be provocative and subjective. Experience it however you wish. If it makes you squirm, maybe you need to think about that. If you aren't full of pride and patriotism that is a reflection of a truth that you are seeing. Why does it make you so uncomfortable. Come on...let it make you think. It will only hurt for a moment.

I think Picasso's Guernica was a little more nuanced than this piece, hate to say. Why not have all the faces add up to a pic of someone holding a sign that says "Bring Them Home"? At least that has a constructive message. All this piece is saying is "Bush is dumb, and McCain is just as bad." We've heard that before. It's too easy.
