Behind the Scenes With the Trump Family

Hello Huffington Post Makeup Readers!

THE MOST important element to being a personal makeup artist to celebrities and high profile families is confidentiality! The moment you walk into their homes they must feel certain they can fully trust you to be themselves without you sharing these private moments with the world. I write this blog today without breaking this honor code of conduct, but rather to answer several repeated questions asked of me over the years and to share a few cute behind the scenes moments with this particular family.

THE TRUMPS

When working for the most famous family in the world, the Trumps (for almost a decade now) I am continuously bombarded with a plethora of questions ranging from: "What does it look like inside of their apartment?" to "Is Melania as beautiful without makeup as she is with makeup?" "Do Donald and Melania really get along or is it just an act?" "What is Ivanka like? Is she nice or is she tough like her dad?" "Have you ever spoken to Donald or does he ignore you?" "Tell me the truth, is the Donald going to run for president?" "Is he harsh like he is on The Apprentice? And of course, the BIG one... "Do YOU do the Donald's hair????" Well, finally, to all those who have emailed, texted, tweeted, Facebooked and asked, here is what life is like for me inside the golden gate of Trump-ville...

2012-04-19-trump1.jpg

Upon arriving I am greeted by the kindest doormen/concierge and elevator men in all of NY, who graciously carry my makeup kit for me with their pristine white gloves into the elevator and up to the entrance of the Trumps' golden sky palace/triplex on the 66th floor which Donald, Melania and Barron Trump call home. The Trump triplex is for sure the royal palace of NYC. I never tire of their majestic golden "door" entrance, the crystal chandeliers, the marble floors, tables and bathrooms, the Renoir paintings and the panoramic floor to ceiling windows with views of my city that are the most supreme I've ever seen. For me it is a serene resting place to come and work high above the intensity and hustle and bustle of daily life. Surprisingly there is a peacefulness, a stillness to working there, even though undoubtedly you are in a kingdom.

I ring the golden doorbell, which announces that I have arrived. Often it is Melania herself who opens the massive golden door to greet me. She is without a stitch of hair and makeup at this time and is simply put, one of the most stunningly beautiful woman in the world. Her smile alone could melt a city and between her piercing steel-blue eyes, her delicate, feminine voice and sweet Slovenian accent she is undoubtedly a woman to fall in love with! ALWAYS a gracious hostess, the very first question she asks me every single time I arrive is, "Are you thirsty? Hungry? Can I offer you something to drink or eat? I can even order you up something if you prefer?" Her charm, warmth and European sensibility put me at ease and she time and time again makes me feel very welcome in her home. Thank you Melania! xo

As hair master Mordechai Alvow of Yarok and I work our magic on this New York City princessa, Mr. Trump is usually at this time returning home from a long day "at the office." His first stop upon arriving home is saying hello to his beautiful wife. Mr. Trump and his wife Melania Trump are unequivocally, undeniably, unmistakingly perfectly suited for each other!!! I have always admired how well they get along, how they consistantly show respect for each other and how they stick up for one another! THEY ARE CERTAINLY A VERY HAPPY COUPLE!!! It is a pleasure to be in their company!

Mr. Trump then dashes off to get himself ready for the evening event, which includes him doing HIS OWN HAIR!!!!! (I never work on Mr. Trump FYI, just the beautiful woman in his life) while I finish makeup and Mordechai finishes hair on Melania. Once we are done, she too goes to get dressed and we begin packing up our things to leave. At this time Mr. Trump, strikingly refreshed and ready for the red carpet sometimes returns to where we are and while waiting for his wife has been known to ask me questions such as, "So how did you enjoy flying in my helicopter last week to QVC?" Or "How did you enjoy flying in my airplane to the Oprah show?" As I am a huge lover of private aviation I could chat with him about this ad nauseam but to these specific questions I truthfully respond, "Mr. Trump your helicopter is absolutely the best ride in town!" And... "I imagine that your airplane is the next best thing to Air Force One. It's even cooler than the Gulfstream 5 jet which was the best private airplane ride I had ever experienced until having now flown on the Trump-mobile! I am seriously ruined for life. How will I ever be able to fly commercial again lol???"

WE DO NOT EVER TALK ABOUT MR. TRUMP'S POLITICAL CAREER!!!! LOL, I DO NOT know what his plans are in or out of Washington and even if I did why in the world would I ever tell anyone about it???? This is one Trump question in particular that always makes me laugh by the way :-)

2012-04-19-larryking.jpg

One time, after Mr. Trump and Melania had finished with a Larry King Live interview together at the CNN building in NYC, Mr. Trump turned to Mordechai and I and asked us if we would like to join him and his wife for dinner to try out the restaurant at his Trump Soho Hotel. Of course we were delighted to join and went with them to the restaurant. I must admit, it was pretty awesome walking into a Trump Hotel with the man himself. At dinner Mr. Trump was engaging in conversation. He asked me what my favorite makeup products were and why? Which brands did I think were cutting edge? He then proceeded to tell me that he thought I did a spectacular job on his wife and thanked me for my work which I thought was extremely generous of him to express out loud. He was fun, friendly and warm to those of us sitting at his intimate dinner table and, of course, attracted every celebrity in the place. At one point I believe even magician David Blaine made a cameo at our table to say hello. It was definitely a memorable evening for me.

About Ivanka Trump? Simply put, she is a thoroughbred. The first daughter of New York, if you will. A drop dead gorgeous knockout! Clever, accomplished, HARD WORKING and totally dedicated to her family (all the Trumps are quite family dedicated actually, they are a seriously close knit family). Ivanka is undoubtedly the most well-spoken woman I have ever known. Her use of the English language is SUPERIOR and impressive and each time I work with her I somehow feel a mile smarter by the end of the day!!! She is a charming, elegant, no-nonsense, down to earth and cool kind of gal.

For those of you who are forever wondering, I can genuinely report that I have had nothing but a positive experience working for the Trumps. They have always been generous and gracious to me. Media is media and it's spun in whichever way ratings and such need them to spin so think what you will about them, but I am here to tell you that on a human level The Trumps are first and foremost a family and actually have their act together more than most high-profile families I know. I wish them continued success and longevity and thank them for all they have contributed and continue to contribute to my life.

Much love, NB! xo

Their home looks like a casino. A bit too much, even for me a lover of opulence.

Eat your heart out Obama American capitalism at its best. Hard work and a dream . No etiltlements ,I only wish America can be America again, You will always have the idiots like some on wall street and in washington. But America is the most successful young country in the world. That kills people like Jackson and Sharpton ,obama ,pelosi and reed.

Hard work and a dream. Lots of people have dreams, not many have a Daddy to give them millions.

At least his daughter works and doesn't just jet set around the world. She can't help it that she was born to a rich man. And how do you know he have her millions? You don't.
08:38 PM on 04/27/2012
NYL153. Then why are you not a millionaire like Trump. Don't you work hard and have a dream? If it were that easy you and millions others would be millionaires.Maybe Trump didn't have entitlements but he had to be bailed out when his casinos lost money and he filed for bankruptcy.

His jet burns 27,000 gallons of jetfuel going to his golf course in Scotland and makes more carbon footprints than the Irish River Dance troop performing on wet asphalt.
He sent me a gold lettered invitation to attend his Trump Wealth Building University. I declined, I can buy everything he has with my signature. Non of my endeavors waste even one drop of fuel, or anything else. I even dis-mantle my obsolete equipment and recycle each part of it : copper wires 50 cents a pound, steel chassis 11 cents a pound, nickel and stainless steel $8.00 a pound, etc....Alfred-

Fan, for cracking me up. But I would want Asteroids, and a pinball machine.Kiing Kool was my favorite. Oh! And air hockey, too. I am devastating at air hockey.

The Trump's home is unbelieveably ostentatious. Is reminds me of the joke Joan Rivers made about her own extravagant apartment in the film about her - "This is how Marie Antoinette would have lived if she had money." Except that the French queen's palace was a genuine expression of the 18th century, nor a laughable cartoon of it..
06:02 PM on 04/27/2012
sorry, it should say, "...not a laughable cartoon..."

I completely agree: I do not mean to be personal about it, but who do they think they are, the King and Queen of the world? I could never live in such a gaudy, vulgar show of wealth. Don't worry about the typo- we all make them from time to time, and I, at least, go with meaning (usually apparent), and not just spelling.

Fan for accuracy!

Good to see a good spin on someone who is so harshly criticed. I don't think the media does a good job portraying these peoples everyday life.
05:37 PM on 04/27/2012
A very good father and a very nice guy believe it or not really a straight shooter.
Just take a look at his family none of his childern are even remotley in the media for crazyness.

He is a very good guy, and the side of him that many know and few see he is very generous when it comes to charities.
Hopefully someday everyone will be able to see that side of him.

I have been following Donald Trump for many years. I have been to his seminars, read his books, listened to him on interviews and followed how he makes his business decisions. Unlike some of us, he did get a start from his father; but he had developed a plan and followed his plan. He has worked long hours, taken a lot of risks and has had to face a lot of obstacles to achieve his goals. He stands for quality. He is a no nonsense person and a very interesting business man. I like his style.

"a sneak peak into the most famous family in the world". Please. Amerika is not the world. Trump may be known in his little enclave in NYC and Vegas but the name means nothing in Europe or Asia. Let us keep matters in perspective. Allah forbid that Amerika should be 'the world'. Thanks but no thanks.

THere is no Allah, get over it. Allah is just a pretend idol.
