Avocado

Avocado is a restorative fruit, perfect for protecting and balancing your hair and skin. It is often called the "ultimate beauty fruit" because it delivers nourishing natural oils and other benefits. The vitamin A in avocado adds sheen to hair, vitamin B balances oil production, whether your skin and hair are too oily or dry, and vitamin E protects and repairs sun and pollution damage.

You can simply mash up one or two avocados into a mud and apply to hair or skin; for a deluxe treatment, try adding:

1 tablespoon of warmed raw organic honey
1 tablespoon of organic mayonnaise or almond oil
Apply to face, body, and hair (cover hair with shower cap) and let sit for 15 minutes, then rinse well and shampoo if necessary.

Egg white on clean skin makes a wonderful mask. You can put moisturizer on before or after. Leave it on until your face tightens--as much as you want. Then, rinse off with water. You will glow. Also, here's another messy but good facial: Mix together yolk of egg, raw oatmeal, pinch of salt, plain yogurt, small amt of honey and bit of lemon juice. Scrub. Oatmeal and salt help exfoliate and salt helps maintain ph of skin. Wash off and pat with Apple Cider Vinegar. Add moisturizer and use egg white to finish. You will really glow. It is, however, a bit of a mess, so do most of it in shower.

If you want a great exfoliator, use apple cider vinegar when you shower...you can use it as a rinse for your hair also ( shines and removes soap residue)..and nothing like an old fashioned oats and salt facial to brighten your face. The vinegar can also help soothe your skin after a day at the beach, don't rub just pour on a face cloth and dab on the skin, then rinse with cool water...one tip to remember is drink lots of water with fresh squeezed lemon in it....this will help flush impurities out of the body, which tend to build up and this causes the" lackluster" look in our skin...

I'm allergic to every soap / moisturizer out there. "Sensitive" formulas included So, I've had to improvise. Plain yogurt, oatmeal and olive oils are a few of my favorites. But there's one they didn't mention---

I've discovered grapefruit is an effective exfoliant. Avoiding your eyes, smush a segment over the rest of your face, leave to dry (about 20-30 minutes), and then rinse. It's basically free and works great! Just don't do two days in a row or more than twice in a week, because it's pretty powerful.

All of them sounds good, but how practical? They are expensive to have them on your face and then spend hours cleaning up the sink or shower ? Better yet, if willing to spend money on organic. eat `em. But of course, following Barbara Hannah`s tips I bought a jar of cocoanut oil (organic) , as a moisturize­r when at home.

With the cost of food today and the difficulty of finding good items, it would be simpler, easier and better to just buy a product on sale or at a discount store! It is a waste to smear fresh, eatable food on
oneself!

Only those cheap products are full of preservative chemicals. That really bothers me and I've stopped using them. Good coconut oil is expensive but so is a good moisturizer.

go to an indian grocery store and get coconut oil from there, way less expensive than any whole foods brand.

not only is the cost of food high, but the author is asking to use organic which is even higher. sorry, i'm not running around a farner's market grabbing a handful of this or that at those prices. while we're at it, aside from being a "hollywood stylist" what are this woman's credentials. a degree in chemistry, a dermatology residency and fellowship? i think it's healthier to eat this stuff (as well as feed it to your family-hence the importance of cost) instead of smearing it all over yourself.

I know. I use olive oil for body scrub (mixed with sugar), hair conditioner, eye makeup remover if I am out, even moisturizer.
