What About It, Al?

I know it's not a great job. And I know you didn't like it the first time. But that was because of Bill and Hill. They won't be there. I will.

Here's the deal: we'll redefine the job. I know, I know -- everyone says this, but I mean it. I'll throw every power in my possession behind you and together we'll attack global warming, save the environment, and create a twenty-first century energy policy. We'll be partners in every way.

In return, you'll be vice president of the United States and everything I need in a running mate:

You're white.

You're experienced.

You're older than I am and younger than John McCain.

You're qualified to be president, and yet I have no fear of being upstaged by you.

You were right on Iraq.

You're from the South.

You have an Oscar, an Emmy and a Nobel Prize.

And more than any politician, you're an exemplar of change because you changed yourself.

What about it, Al?

Who really cares what Al thinks certainly not the people of Tennessee.

The people of Tennessee arent the only ones in the usa who vote. And who are you to say what they think? Do you even live in Tennessee?

Why should a man who is experienced be a running mate to a man who isn't?

Why should a man with such a great track record play second to someone who has none?

Why should a man who stands for such a laudable cause be in less of a position to a man who makes promises just to break them?

Why should a man who represents the global unity of the future support a man iconic of rancor and division?

Why should a man whose visionary warnings are proving to be true condone the bad judgement of a heedless opportunist?

Al Gore was criticised for being too stolidly solid. So why should he back a hologram?

And why should he make himself a part of an election where we would be voting for the least of two Bad ideas? How does that fix anything?

Ands what happens to Al Gore when Obama Loses?

I'd much rather see Al Gore be McCain's vice president.
Since McCain is very obviously on his last legs, Gore would finally get the presidency and in the meantime he would do the patriotically meaningful thing by being part of a bi-partisan administration.

And it would drive Maureen Dowd completely nuts.

Face it. The next real president is whoever is McCain's running mate.

Face it. You're a tool. And regarding "...when Obama loses" (sic), you would do well to remember that the less a person makes declaritive statements, the less they're apt to look foolish in retrospect.

Poor delusional neo con who actually thinks McCain has any chance of winning this election. You and your fellow republicans are in for a very rude awakening come this November.

The poster may be delusional, but I am not. I am an independent and OBama is throwing his changes and chances away every day. He will not win. However, I hope McCain would not either !!!!!

You must be really new here.
i am- was a democrat and am still a liberal.
i also live in the Flyover.
Where you cannot give away Obama with a free tank of hi-test.

It's not about you.
Kerry should 've taught you it's all about demographics and Obama doesn't have them. All i can tell you is Obama is an incomprehensible urban conceit to these people. Exactly like sushi, actually.

Thesearen't people who give a hoot about the news. They'll still tell you with total conviction that we're in Iraq because Saddam bombed the WTC and that Obama is a Muslim. Because it's a Muslim name , silly.

Tthey'll tell you that even if he held the communion cup at the next church service.

But you know what? It's their country too .They have every right to expect having a candidate they can be confident represents a bond of responsibility trust and commonality with them.

It's completely Obama's fault for coming in too soon.
Had he been logical enough to be vice-president to a ubiquitous name, he'd have become known.
Now he'll just be known as the guy who lost.

What is really doing is making it inevitable that McCain will b president.

I'm not voting for either.. I don't see how the least of two Bad Ideas could fix things.
i'm voting my conscience and writing in Hillary.

Obama is a possibility only on the blogs.
Everywhere else, off the monitor, he's a toss-off.

Obama ran a campaign that bested the Clinton political machine. Winning this nomination was much tougher than it was for Al Gore to win the same in 2000. As far as judgment is concerned, they both had good jugdment on Iraq, the most important judgment call of the last seven years. Obama completely supports fighting global warming and he, thanks to Gore's post-2000 work, mentioned it thousands more time than Gore did in 2000 despite the fact it was supposed to be his big baby. As for worst of both options, many who currently adore Gore (myself included) skewered him; many Democrats questioned his credibility and reaffirmed the myth that he like to tell tll whoppers. What really indicates your being out of touch, is that you smugly state that McCain will win this election. I don't claim to have such powers to predict the future but I do think right now the odds are definitely in favor of Obama. People who claim to have certainty about such matters does not recall the recent history of our country.

Bull hockey!

Al does not have an Oscar!

That went to the producers of the film, of which he was not one!

But then Al never claims to have an Oscar, does he?

Nora, as a film author you should know better.

Without Gore there would have been no film and no Oscar. The film was made about Gore's book.

He was already voted president by a little more than half the voters in 2000, and is nowhere near the divisive character Hillary has already proven to be...but it's just not going to happen.

However, I LOVE all the talk about Obama needing a handholder. Where was Bush's handholder? The man(boy) had no successful business experience, hadn't traveled outside the country on so much as a vacation, and when confronted proved almost entirely ignorant on all matters foreign and domestic. And NOW you people want some maturity assurances? Rich.

Sounds great, but this kinda thing only happens in Fantasyland. While nothing is impossible, this idea is pretty close to it. Al would never take the job under any circumstance.

Everything listed in the last part of that article (except the Nobel, Emmy and Oscar) matches someone else...someone who hasn't already been VP, and who truly cares about the workers in this country... JOHN EDWARDS FOR VP!!

President Gore:

First & foremost, I sincerely appreciate that virtually no American politician would agree to serving as Vice President after achieving all of your accomplishments and contributions. And, like many Americans, I believe you were the duly elected winner of the 2000 Presidential election.

But these are not normal times for America. As you know better than virtually anyone, and have had the courage to persistently argue, our children's future is imperiled by the global climate crisis, by very real foreign threats compounded by the Cheney (sic) White House's destruction of America's world standing, and by domestic crises worsened by crony capitalism and sheer GOP incompetence at their worst.

America desperately needs leadership by sacrifical example. We must elect a courageous, proactive, progressive President in 2008. But that President will also need the strongest possible team to rebuild America's leadership roles and to accomplish essential changes. With humility, sir, I propose that your further self-sacrifice as Senator Obama's running mate would provide both the strongest (now) possible Democratic ticket and, perhaps even more importantly, provide America the strongest (now) possible 2009 administration. (I say now-possible only because I have supported Senator Obama as an excellent candidate and the best available given your most understandable decision not to enter the 2008 primaries).

Most Respectfully,

R Hendrick
Itaca, NY

No Gore. Obama should pick Hillary and give the job of making universal healthcare a reality--she'd be too busy for any Arkansasian shenanigans.

Hillary as VP would cause Obama to lose votes - at least mine. That awful woman and her deranged husband represent everything that Obama was compaigning against. Putting another Clinton in the White House isn't change. It's betrayal.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 03:31 PM on 06/30/2008

How about wiretapping American citizens without a warrant? Might that be more of a betrayal than putting Sen. Clinton on the ticket? I would go a different route, but a betrayal? You can't be serious.
