I know it's not a great job. And I know you didn't like it the first time. But that was because of Bill and Hill. They won't be there. I will.
Here's the deal: we'll redefine the job. I know, I know -- everyone says this, but I mean it. I'll throw every power in my possession behind you and together we'll attack global warming, save the environment, and create a twenty-first century energy policy. We'll be partners in every way.
In return, you'll be vice president of the United States and everything I need in a running mate:
You're white.
You're experienced.
You're older than I am and younger than John McCain.
You're qualified to be president, and yet I have no fear of being upstaged by you.
You were right on Iraq.
You're from the South.
You have an Oscar, an Emmy and a Nobel Prize.
And more than any politician, you're an exemplar of change because you changed yourself.
What about it, Al?

Well, nice dream, Nora. But, if you were Al, would you even give this offer a nanosecond of consideration? NOT!
I KNEW there was a reason I like you, Nora. What's obvious to me is almost always not obvious to anyone else.
Apart from the legitimate reluctance Al Gore may have to take another shot at being VP, as you say, Hillary and Bill won't be there.
Al has the military and executive gravitas, as well as a newfound strength on environmental issues that we didn't see in the Clinton Administration.
His has already distanced himself from the Clintons, although it was to his detriment in 2000.
The problem is that he may be perfectly happy in his new role as a Nobel Prize/Oscar-winning celebrity in his own right.
However, few have the positive balancing qualifications that Al Gore has.
We'll see.
Fantasy Island.
Obamarama is a Centrist opportunist just like Bill Clinton was. Paul Krugman points this out brilliantly and repulsively today. The Obamacon is gonna pick one of those mashed potato white middle-men just like Al Gore did with the repulsive Joe Liberman.
We have moved forward, ...just simply because the Bushman had us so far back it was the only option before falling off the cliff.
Paul Krugman is the CNN of the NYT, against Obama regardless of who he's up against. Its impossible to take him seriously.
.he failed in a crunch.
As for Gore, I was yelling at the tv about the results in Jacksonville and Broward county, watching votes change, watching THOUSANDS disappear from one county alone. It was obvious that the exit polling was correct--Gore handily won the state--and that vote tampering was afoot.
It was so OBVIOUS that the entire state needed a recount and it was state law to be able to request it. That he didn't was, to me, utter weakness and stupidity. As was continuing to accept Bush campaign chair, Kathrine Harris, as the person making the official rulings.
Gore showed ZERO backbone in Florida. He has been great educating people about global warming (helped in appreciation for this by a filmmaker's fantastic efforts). But as a politician and leader of our country...
Goire as VP is a completely TERRIBLE idea.
And, btw, its only been 2 weeks and we're already joining the REpubs. and the media spin to tear down our (great) nominee.
Please, let's stop.
Obama '08
And you're an environmentalist, which I am not.
I'm a liberal Democrat, but this is NOT a good idea. His reputation is about to take a hit with the lawsuits pending about his fudging the facts about global "warming" and about the brilliant scam of selling Carbon credit (commoditized air),
I would ask you back up the lawsuits comment with a link.
Google is your friend. The effort is being led by the founder of The Weather Channel. It's actually been covered by the MSM.
You are not a "liberal democrat" or you wouldn't take at face value and "lawsuits", etc. and reject someone like Al Gore.
Carbon credits are a stop gap measure, not a permanent solution, at least not something envisioned long term by anyone whose serious about climate change.
Al got every fact from scientists, and he sources his information. And you can't sue someone for "fudging facts".
By the way, Al doesn't call it global warming. He calls it "climate change". If you were a liberal democrat, you'd know that.
Yawn. Not all Liberal Democrats fall in line like sheep. It's embarrassing that some of us are no better than the far Right-wingers who can't think for themselves.
