A new ad from Repealtherepeal.org, aimed at reinstating the death penalty in NM, started airing statewide yesterday. The spot, which will run on broadcast and cable stations for the next 10 days, is part of an effort to collect signatures to add a referendum reinstating the death penalty to the 2010 general election ballot.
The group's ad features an image of child killer Terry Clark--the only person to be executed in New Mexico since 1960. New Mexico repealed the death penalty on March 18, after Gov. Bill Richardson (D)--long a supporter of capital punishment--had a change of heart and signed the death penalty repeal. Asked about the ad, the governor's office declined to comment yesterday.

It's no longer PC to call it death penalty. The new term is postpartum abortion.
....that's really late term.
NoSillyNam e...the man who adopted "Cupcake" is a friend of mine. I saw new photographs of her this morning. I live in Texas. Cupcake is a beautiful dog...so full of love and a playful nature. I'm going to tell my friend that you posted about him/Cupcak e....Thank you!
This is beyond ridiculous. The Gov just signed the darned bill!

The only good thing I know of that the Bernalillo County sheriff (or ex-sheriff, whatever) Darren White, has done is the adoption of that poor dog that had its ears "docked" with a pair of scissors by its previous owners.

I find it appauling how many "Christians" support the death penalty. Was Ten Comandments too many to memorize or what? Hypocrites!
Isn't the seminal story of Christian faith one of a man who was arrested for political reasons, given an unfair trial, tortured and murdered by the state?
I agree, Christians should be against all murder of people, not just abortion.
As I recall, New Mexico's main reasoning for abandoning the Death Penalty wasn't humanitarian. It was all about the cost. The endless appeals and such cost the taxpayer too much money. So I imagine any right-wingers whining about this will shut up if they are told that they will "repeal the repeal" if the can raise taxes to cover the cost.
I live here and this just happened; I haven't had time to read the reason. Too busy trying to leave.
When the Gov signed that bill (last week?) he also signed one outlawing killing animals in the gas chamber. New Mexico has the worst "pet" problem I've ever seen and I've lived all over the country.
I'm all for both.
