The planet we live on today is very different from the one I was which I was born... How do we survive?
The air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat, are not the same.
The likelihood our bodies will evolve to adjust to the changes would make a great science-fiction film, however, we must adjust and do this by trying to maintain our best fitness, health and wellness. We can proactively survive all the changes if we make lifestyle changes.
While considering the limited healthy lifestyle choices that are available today, I thought of using "Conversations" as a platform to share solutions and offer positive alternatives. In order to protect ourselves, we need to know what the options are and how to use the current marketplace intelligently. The group I have gathered together has solutions that I was pleased to pass on.
Horst Rechelbacher, who is well-known for creating the holistic Aveda line, is an organic farmer now. After selling Aveda, Horst uses his time creating awareness about the negative effects of beauty products that have been known to lower reproduction, cause cancer as well as other diseases. He passionately believes we need to actively pursue organic products and make careful choices.
Twyla Tharp contributed, "Keep moving," and if the body is moving, it is productive. The great motivator added, if you fail at something, get up, don't waste time over the loss, and move on.
Joe Cross, a successful Australian Businessman found himself at 350 pounds. "Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead," is the name of the film he produced chronicling his trip across the USA juicing to wellness. Under a doctor's supervision, we watch his transformation. His painful auto-immune disease was controlled with large amounts of prednisone and he was feeling less and less well as the years went by. Joe's interaction with Americans who are in need of addressing their health issues and how he inspired others while doing so (on as little as $15.00 a day) is an amazing call to action. Joe shared his experiences making the film and changing his lifestyle.
Dr. David Colbert, a well-known internist and dermatologist, explains the negative effects of sugar and labels it the drug like the "white powder" of our time and that it is killing us.
The wellness event at the MOMA featured nine people with a "part of the puzzle" to share with the audience. All nine came to see short film clips of the "Conversations" I had had with each of them about wellness.
