Here's a preamble to election night:
I am predicting that 26% of single ownership newspapers will call it a landslide for Obama. Only one media conglomerate will refrain from using the word. 66% of those voters who have been calling themselves "Undecided" will admit to fraudulently claiming their independence and confess that they were simply enjoying their 15 minutes. And some years from now when the anthropological studies are concluded, it will have been determined that 82.1% of American women could arrange their hair, purse their lips and with the help of certain glsses, look like Sarah Palin.

Sarah Palin reminds me of a line from an old Mothers Of Invention album (We're Only In It For The Money). "What's the ugliest part of your body? Some say your nose, some say your toes, I think it's your mind."
I think the media will call anything with one side getting more than 300 EV a landslide, even though that would be pretty close compared with elections other than 2000 or 2004.
I can say from my limited work on the Obama campaign canvassing, the number of people who are truly undecided seems a lot lower than in the polls. I was sent to talk to people who aren't clearly id'd as either pro-Obama or pro-McCain in a battleground state, and I've met something like 100 people, yet I've met a whopping 2 who really didn't know which way they were voting (and it took 5 minutes on healthcare to turn 1 of them into a lean Obama). Lear's right - people are just being cute with pollsters.
landslide is the word many long to read... but you are probably right about that one con-glom news paper... in fact that same corp will undoubtedly be headlining with reports of voter fraud across it's media empire, and be fixated on the issue for some time after the election... perhaps we will finally get rid of Diebold machines and other irregularities as a result; if the dems are smart and plan ahead...
Look, if BO wins and the rethugs scream about voting irregularities...? Well, boo freakin hoo, ya know? That's just Karma kicking them in the tail, guys. They stole two, they get to lose one. And we all know, even the wingnuttiest winger included, that there won't be any fraud from the dems. We're too busy trying to get people to actually care and get out there and vote, while the other guys are all about suppression. No one should even bother to pretend otherwise. It's time for the righties to just sit the heck down and let the grown-ups drive for a while. They had their turn and they mucked it all up. Game over.
Planning ahead being the operative words here. I can't believe that with two stolen elections nothing has yet been done to prevent another theft before now. It's almost as if they WANT to play with fire and lose!
For pity's sake, fix it, fix it NOW, if not sooner. The tension is spiking my blood pressure off the charts, and all I can think about is that IT MIGHT HAPPEN AGAIN!!!!!
Mr. Lear, Love you to pieces, but no way do I want to look like Sarah Palin, and I think the 82.1 percent figure is artificially inflated (just like her credentials).
Very good :) Im afraid however that those women would have to lose 20 IQ points and quite a lot of their integrity and ethics.
Far more than 20 for me, thank you ;)
You're aptly named, that's for sure.
: )
Right now, I don't know about a landslide, but looking at his policies, I can't understand why it wouldn't be.

I'm beginning to groom my own Failen'PaIin look for next year's Halloween.
You might want to re-think that. By next Halloween no one will remember who Sarah Palin was.
boy.....do I hope you're right....
