WHO: Sen. Lindsey Clark (R-SC) and Lt. Col Orson Swindle
WHAT: Press conference call to further respond to Wesley Clark's comments and Obama's response.
WHEN: Tuesday, July 1 at 10:45 a.m. EDT
SUMMARY
In this press conference call, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Orson Swindle further criticize Gen. Wesley Clark for his comments about McCain's service in Vietnam and his executive experience. Clark said that McCain has never had executive experience and is "untested and untried" in that regard. Graham and Swindle defended McCain's experience, saying that with John McCain "you're going to have one of the best qualified commander-in-chiefs in decades." They also both criticized Barack Obama for not taking effective leadership in the wake of Clark's comments; "this is not about Wes Clark...but it's about Barack Obama and how he will lead. If he can't even lead his surrogates, he's not going to do a very good job of leading the Armed forces of the United States as commander-in-chief," Swindle said.
