WHO: Rep. Eric Cantor (R-VA) and Senior Policy Advisor Kori Schake
WHAT: Press conference call to discuss Obama's and McCain's positions on Iraq
WHEN: Wednesday, July 2 at 1:00 p.m. EDT
SUMMARY
In this conference call, Congressman Eric Cantor (R-VA) and senior policy advisor Kori Schake criticize Sen. Obama for his position on Iraq in the wake of comments made by Obama National Co-Chair Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO). McCaskill said earlier this week that Obama still supported a withdrawal. "He is now clinging to a very ideological position on his part," Cantor said. "A precipitous withdrawal the likes of which Barack Obama has been clinging to for over a year just doesn't make sense," Cantor said. Obama has said that he favors a gradual withdrawal from Iraq.
