WHO: United States Congressman Steve Rothman (D-NJ)
WHAT: Press Conference call on McCain's statement that the gas tax funds "projects that are unnecessary and unwanted"
WHEN: Friday, June 13th at 10:30am EDT

SUMMARY
This call discusses the correlation between Senator McCain's proposed gas tax holiday and a cut in federal funding for maintaining essential state highway infrastructures. Congressman Rothman pays specific attention to the ramifications of the gas tax holiday for New Jersey's outdated highway system, as an example of how "crumbling highways and bridges" across the nation would be adversely affected by suspending the gas tax. He also suggests that the gas tax will not necessarily provide economic relief for average american, but rather an opportunity for oil companies to withhold savings from consumers. Last but not least, Rep. Rothman forcefully claims that Senator Obama "will win huge" in New Jersey, regardless of how much money the McCain campaign pours into the state.

The above audio was recorded as part of the OffTheBus Listening Post project.
