WHO: Ohio Governor Ted Strickland and State Senator Eric Kearney
WHAT: Press conference call to discuss Sen. McCain's gas tax plan.
WHEN: Thursday, June 26, 2008 at 2:00 PM EST

SUMMARY
This call discusses Senator McCain's visit to Ohio today, and the implications his proposed gas tax holiday would have on the economy if it were implemented. State Senator Kearney states that the revenue lost from lifting the gas tax would "drain money from the Ohio trust fund. Ohio would lose $255 million in highway funds and that could impact more than 8900..highway related jobs." He also discusses the negative affect the proposed holiday would have on the ability to maintain road and bridge infrastructure. Governor Strickland emphasizes the importance of "bread and butter" issues to Ohioan voters, specifically addressing the benefits of Sen. Obama's alternative energy proposals would have for the economy, with "estimates ranging up to as many as 5 million new jobs, many of which would be created in Ohio."
