Is reality what you think it is? Or is your attention habitually drawn exclusively to problems? So, is your reality dominated by that energy?
If you were surrounded by beauty, but you were unable to give it your attention, would the beauty still exist? Yes, of course, but it would not exist for you. Humans have the amazing ability to perceive that which we give our attention. It is possible to completely neglect beauty in favor of neurotic self-obsession, endless (and sometimes useless) hashing and rehashing of problems, or even speculative consideration of the past and future.
If you consider your attention like a kind of currency -- you only have so much, and what you choose to spend it on is what you will receive -- then you will begin to see that you have a choice. You have the power to guide your experience of life by choosing what you decide to focus on.
A helpful meditative practice that you can take with you everywhere you go is shifting focus to beauty. At first it may require some effort to shift your focus out of the neurotic problem solving that tends to dominate our modern culture. But this effort can be habit-changing (and life-changing!) as you open your mind to the beauty that persists in our world. Naturally, as you shift your focus to beauty wherever you can find it, and the appreciation of beauty, it will open your experience of life to beauty. Your life might even feel more beautiful.
