Dance Sensation at the Bollywood Oscars

The Bollywood Oscars are filled with thousands of people from all over the world who are in Tampa Bay, Florida to attend and catch a glimpse of their favorite stars. The Indian International Film Academy awards and weekend began on April 23rd and ends on April 26th with the main award ceremony.

Just like a Bollywood movie, an award show isn't complete with musical performances filled with glitz and glam. And there's no one better to do that than dance sensation Shiamak Davar. Shiamak 2014-04-26-photo11.JPG is the official choreographer and entertainment designer for IIFA. He is the owner and founder of the largest dance academy in the world. Starting out with only 5 students, he now has over one million students, and dance studios in 5 different countries. Shiamak has choreographed ten of the fifteen IIFA awards, all around the world from Malaysia to Toronto. Each year the performances just keep getting better and better, and this year he ensures it to be no different. Mr. Viraf Sarkari, the director of Wizcraft, the company that produces the IIFA awards, says "Shiamak is one of the most creative dance directors I've worked with. We are looking forward to see him create his choreographic magic on the IIFA stage this year."

Shiamak and his whole team have been rehearsing for months, and while in Tampa Bay they have been at the different venues rehearsing around the clock. IIFA's Magic of the Movies and Technical Awards was held on April 25th at MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre, and the stadium was packed. Nikita Chothani, a fan who came from New Jersey for the awards says, "IIFA is the biggest event that happens in Bollywood, and my favorite parts are all the dance performances. The Magic of the Movies was filled with amazing performances, and Shiamak truly outdid himself. I can't wait to see what is planned for the actual awards tonight."

Shiamak Davar, says he never realizes the impact he has on others, his motto is "Have Feet. Will Dance." Shiamak's non-profit Victory Arts Foundation empowers under privlidged children, those affected by HIV/AIDS and those with special needs through dance therapy. He is truly an entertainment icon with a heart of gold. Shiamak's one piece is "Find what you excel at, and keep working on it. You have to love what you do to be successful, and never give up." Many are excited to see what the entertainment icon has curated for the IIFA Awards at Raymond James Stadium.
