Opemipo Akerele, a Southern Californian born in Nigeria, is a senior at the King Drew Magnet High School of Medicine and Science. She has had a glimpse of college life through summer programs at Johns Hopkins University and the University of Pennsylvania’s Perelman School of Medicine and recently, through flyin programs to liberal arts colleges on the East Coast. When she is not busy at Minds Matter, this ABC 7 Los Angeles Cool Kid enjoys keeping children occupied and out of trouble by volunteering at the Toy Loan program in her community. She hopes to attend a top tier university in 2014.
