Patricia Amaya is a freelance director, writer, producer and cinematographer based in Seattle, Washington. She was born and raised in Los Angeles and Burbank, California. She began her Film/Video career ambitions as a child. Patricia attended schools for filmmaking several years ago. Embarking on a career as a Prep Tech in 1990 with Motion Picture Camera Rental Houses, she gained a vast knowledge of the technical functions of the finest equipment manufactured by the most respected names in the industry. Learning the fundamentals of the entertainment industry and creating a network of freelance camera assistant productions, she traveled on location to Europe working on dramas, industrials, documentaries and commercials.

Patricia created and wrote a pilot variety show for a major television network. Patricia has introduced green practices to entertainment productions companies.

Patricia has created a non-profit foundation and is the executive director, catering to artists and musicians who are interested in remaining independent from major corporate entertainment industries.

She is currently working on a series of interviews with Journalist, Filmmakers, Musicians, Pro-Skateboarders, Philanthropists and Political Activists. No longer relying on the major corporate entertainment industry to distribute and show her work, she is using the internet as a catalyst to showcase projects.

Patricia Amaya has committed herself to living an environmentally progressive lifestyle for over eighteen years. Through her research, advocacy and writing, she has focused on bringing working class sensibilities and values to the environmental movement. She believes that as long as environmental advocacy rests only with elites, it will never reach its potential and ultimate purpose. As an example, Patricia has created a partnership with local independent artists who, without a lot of resources, are beginning to bring self sustainable practices to their work and art.

Be it through creating of a non-profit foundation, through her work in community radio or through mainstream television production using self sustainable practices, she believes that there are opportunities to bridge the gap between rhetoric and local action. Ultimately, although we speak in generalities, we live in details. It is in that activation of local accountability to the earth and to each other that motivates Patricia's work.
