Patricia Foulkrod produced and directed The Ground Truth, a feature documentary distributed by Focus Features in 2006. It was short-listed for an Oscar nomination and focuses on our soldiers returning home from Iraq and Afghanistan. www.thegroundtruth.net. Most recently, she coordinated the grassroots outreach effort for Paul Haggis’ feature film, IN THE VALLEY OF ELAH.

Patricia has worked in film and television production for over 25 years, starting in news and public affairs at WNET/13 in New York. In 1978, she left WNET/13 to produce and direct commercials for political consultant, David Garth. After several campaigns, she went on produce short films for Air France, Boeing Aircraft Corporation, Mercedes and Disney.

Between 1989-2001, Patricia co-produced or produced ten independent feature films, including COOL BLUE with Woody Harrelson; The Linguini Incident with David Bowie and Rosanna Arquette; Disturbed starring Malcolm McDowell; A House in the Hills, starring Michael Madsen, Claudine’s Return starring Christina Applegate, and in 2001, she co-produced AMERICAN RHAPSODY in Hungary and LA for Paramount, starring Scarlett Johansson, directed by Eva Gardos..

In 1984, Patricia moved to LA to produce THE LIVING SEAS, an eight-minute 70mm film for Disney’s EPCOT Center. In 1989, she produced and directed THEY’RE DOING MY TIME, a PBS feature documentary film focusing on children whose mothers are in prison. Patricia executive produced a CBS Movie of the Week starring Angela Bassett based on her documentary with Steve White Productions. Additionally, in 1992, she co-produced a six-hour TV series, The Native Americans, for Turner Broadcasting. In 1993 she traveled to thirteen countries filming and researching a documentary on love and marriage around the world. Like love, it has no end.

In 2003, Patricia organized Peace on the Beach, in which thousands of people created a Picasso aerial image for peace on the Santa Monica Beach that was published worldwide. She has organized additional aerial images with John Quigley for Greenpeace, and USVETS. Additionally, Patricia organized Arianna Huffington’s Southern California grassroots campaign for Governor.

From 1998-2003 Patricia taught meditation to juveniles incarcerated at LA’s Central Juvenile Hall and several probation camps. She is currently in development with Participant Media and Tommy Schlamme on an internet project involving military families.

Rove Sells First Amendment for $30,000

CodePink emailed me that Karl Rove would be speaking last night at Los Angeles' Loyola Marymount University as part of their annual First Amendment Week. I then learned that Rove would reportedly receive $30,000 by LMU for this 6-7:30 pm First Amendment Happy Hour.
