Barack Obama and Hulk Hogan: Real Americans

As reported yesterday on The Huffington Post, Barack Obama has some new muscle behind his campaign, thanks to the endorsement of wrestling hero Hulk Hogan. And since the Chuck Norris ads worked so effectively for Mike Huckabee's campaign, Obama needs to take full advantage of his new seal of approval in order to win Super Tuesday. If the Obama campaign wants the support of real Americans, this is how the next television spot should look.

Wow... I don't know what to say. The dancing was slightly disturbing. And the rest of it - I don't think I can watch videos at the end of a work day - my brain is already shutting down.

I think the next Obama commercials should have a picture of McCain asleep (at whatever event that was), a picture of Bill Clinton asleep (at whatever event that was), and then 1/3 of the screen a picture of Obama in front of the Ted Kennedy endorsement ecstatic crowd waving signs and posters and yelling.

The voice over would be Obama saying something like: Shhhhhh. They're tired. Let them sleep. I'll take it from here.

On its face, the endorsement may seem odd or funny, but it is a very shrewed move on the part of the Obama campaign (given pro-wrestling's popularity among Latino youth).

The following is a quote from a Dec. 2007 press release on the Telemundo web-site:

"... the pairing of WWE RAW and lucha libre has given this facet of Latino culture a more expansive position in the United States. With heroes like Carlito, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Hulk Hogan and many others, the WWE brand has grown with its audience over the last 15 years.
