Why Rove Attacks Eric Holder: To Provide Cover for Bush's Pardons

Karl Rove understands better than anyone that George Bush needs as much wiggle room as possible to provide the pardons he and scores of his rogue colleagues expect. President-Elect Obama's assurances that there will not be a witch-hunt do not comfort those whose warts and noses are so large that they can be seen without mirrors.

Enter, Eric Holder. Regrettably, Holder was the official ultimately responsible for vetting President Clinton's last-minute pardons. By his own admission, he did not pay sufficient attention to the details, and Bill Clinton, at the behest of Marc Rich's attorney, Scooter Libby, pardoned Rich, a notorious defrauder who had escaped to Switzerland without going to trial or serving a day in prison. In the wake of the Madoff scandal, a fraud that made Marc Rich's seem like petty larceny, Rove smells blood.

Eric Holder will be confirmed. All Rove wants to do, and will succeed at doing, is to elevate public attention to his confirmation hearings where pliant Republicans will ask the same questions about Marc Rich over-and-over-and-over to shine the spotlight on Clinton's egregious pardon. In addition the Republicans will try to pin Holder down on whether he will prosecute the major rogue actors in the Bush/Cheney regime, but he cannot take that bait.

Together, the cover supplied by Holder and his unwillingness to be pinned down on whom he might investigate, will provide Bush and Cheney the manufactured rationale to pardon Rove and others.

Of course, Bush will pardon them anyhow. Or, as I originally predicted, on January 19th, Bush will pardon Cheney and resign, and let Cheney pardon the rest of them, including Bush himself.

But, to keep Bush et al. from having a forum to cast just their last abuse of power as "Clinton did it too, and even Obama's new Attorney General was involved," the Senate Judiciary Committee should not hold hearings on the Holder nomination until after January 20th. While no one can be formally nominated until then, the relevant Senate Committees can, and probably should, hold confirmation hearings on the others so they can vote on them on January 21st.

Hold Eric Holder's hearings until after the 20th.

Karl Rove understands better than anyone that George Bush needs as much wiggle room as possible to provide the pardons he and scores of his rogue colleagues expect. President-Elect Obama's assurances...

Greetings,

As explained I request to testify before in opposition to the confirmation of Eric Holder (http://capwiz.com/congressorg/sbx/f/?aid=12313551&r=1):

First, the evidence confirms that as a Beltway attorney/lobbyist he violated his oath as an attorney to serve the public. He is the linchpin in a RICO criminal conspiracy in violation of 18 U.S.C. §§ 241, 242, and 1513, by retaliating, punishing, and stigmatizing me for litigating to enforce my federal statutory rights as a father (http://www.home.earthlink.net/~isidoror/id6.html; and http://www.liamsdad.org/others/isidoro.shtml). Thus, he will be a defendant in a civil RICO and 18 U.S.C. § 3771 action to be filed in February 2009.

Second, Eric Holder served in policy positions at DOJ in the 90's, at the same time I litigated in the U.S. Tax Court, the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 11th, and DC Circuits, as well as Supreme Court, against the unauthorized polices and practices of DOJ in violation of the right of Hispanics.* Thus, his policy is that the public has no right to expect accountability (i.e., the pardon of Marc Rich).

Isidoro Rodriguez, Esq.

*See Martinez v. Lamagno and DOJ/DEA, 515 U.S. 417 (1995)(DOJ asserted absolute immunity for negligent acts) and Lopez v. First Union, 129 F3.rd. 1186 (11th Cir. 1997)( DOJ wanted to seize every nonresident Hispanic bank accounts in the U.S.)[Web: http://justiciaportodo.webs.com].

Thanks for the explanation! With this guy there has to be a "TRICK" or "ANGLE" to everything he does!

Why doesn’t Congress reissue the subpoena to him every week for the next four weeks to keep Bush&Rove busy on other things!

Besides making perfect sense, leaving Holder's hearings until at least January 21 would give a small taste of their own medicine to Cheney-Bush, the most secretive US administration ever. Great idea!

This is no Iran Contra or Bay of Pigs league stuff. This was about commission and authorization of torture, illegal preemption including domestic wiretap, murder, theft, and the actual occupation of two countries. This planned overthrow of the United States using the Patriot Acts, Military Commissions Act, and the Republican Party apparatus as host and enabler didn't come by accident.

A pardon should not be tolerated by a single American.

One can only wonder what sort of atmosphere we the people-particularly Liberals and Democrats-would have endured if Rove and the cabal weren't defeated in 2006.

With that, this one was for every Neo Con in 2006. (PNAC = Project for the New American Century)

So, at this point, passing judgment, adhering to ideology, and working clandestinely is a must for those engaged in a do or die battle with the Constitution and the People it serves.

Rove's WHIG comrades, the CIA's Plame memo, along with George W. Bush and Ari Fleischer were aboard AF One in '03 flying to Africa. But Rove and Cheney missed the flight. Got phone records? Got testimony?

I'll bet Colin Powell would know exactly what I mean.

I agree that this is a tactic to allow Bush to issue all kinds of pardons.

But... can Bush pardon himself, Cheney or Rove from future invesitigations. He may be able to more permanentize the Libby communation so that Libby can't be somehow turned in the future, but that's about it, unless I've got it wrong.

What this article exposes EXPLICITLY is that Rove is actively involved with the GOP/ RNC, not just with the fringe faction. Since he's a consultant, I wonder who's paying the bills to stir up all the current nastiness. I'm still hoping he's indicted for his machinations while in govt. He is diabolical.

It comes as no surprise that the RNC, which is in complete disarray, would resort to taking their lead from the Ministry of Dirty Tricks as a means of discrediting the new administration...straight out of the blocks. (So much for the influence of McCain's call for supporting the new president.) Moderation is losing in the GOP to the fringe element that can't get them elected in 2012 or any time thereafter if they keep this up. Rove disgusts me.

You have missed on one point. Karl Rove is attacking Holder because he knowa that Holder is the one who is going to prosecute him. He wants to try to influence the investigation. This is just an attempt by a criminal to hinder his prosecution.

That's a fact, Jack. Right on the money, honey. It's about time to quit letting the media steer you away from the big fish by showing you a little one (Blogojevich). First things first.

"President-Elect Obama's assurances that there will not be a witch-hunt " - a witch-hunt implies chasing down people who are innocent in order to serve someone's agenda. Chasing down Bush's posse would not be a witch hunt, but a lawfull exercise of government oversight. They have done crimes.

Ok.........let me see if I've got it right now. "I am president of the United States and at the end of my term I am going to pardon........me!"

Are you sure it is supposed to work that way?

From what I've read, the only limit is that a president can't pardon in cases involving his own impeachment.

However... since Pelosi and Reid clearly stated that impeachment is off the table, they've essentially stated that Bush's criminality and C.Y.A. will have no restrictions placed on it. Ever.

So We the People will never have a full accounting of how badly we were screwed, nor will we ever see any kind of accountability.

I find myself wondering again and again how the MSM manages to avoid asking Rove about any of his criminal actions. Refusing to submit to subpeonas is a crime as I understand it. This article by Mr Abrams explains a lot, I think,

I find myself wondering that myself.
