Heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time. Made me cry. How can anyone wrap their head around electing McCain who will ESCALATE this shit? When I hear the media trashing Obama for being a racist, I want to scream. When I hear all the corporate owned TV pundits, with their verbal diarrhea talking about what a "leader" McCain is, I want to puke my guts out. For the love of God, please wake up, America. Why can't people see that this war is our demise??? Our economy is being brought to its knees, crime is spiraling out of control, public schools are becoming preludes to prisons with nothing more than "security" provided to control the students, healthcare is non-existant for millions, the earth's environment is polluted and sick, and we want WAR??? We want more of this same shit for another four, eight, twelve, til infinity years??? How long will it be before Americans, in droves, leave this place? If McCain is elected, the populations of Canada, European Union, Australia, and New Zealand will grow with "immigrants" from America. The next generation will not sit by and watch their country turn into chaos. They will leave it. In history, when things get too bad, the people flee. Such will happen in the U.S. If McCain is elected, just watch and see.
I totally agree. I'm seriously looking at Panama and a few other places. I guess this will solve the immigration problem as no one will want to come here anymore.
89,000 dead civilian Iraqis is the number posted by iraqbodycount.com. It is their upper end estimate based on scrupulous accounting of those Iraqis who have died as the result of overt violence - we know their names and they had obvious holes in their bodies.
George Bush thinks this is triple the actual number which he pegs at 30, 000. This is based on
Presidential Prerogative to Make Shit Up.
The best estimate on record is by researchers from famed Johns Hopkins University conducted in October 2006 and published the Lancet, Coalition of the Still There partner Britain's medical journal of note. This is an estimate based on reality and truth discerned through scientific method and includes all deaths which would not have occurred had the the invasion and occupation also not occurred. The Johns Hopkins 'Scientists' say there were 655,000 unnecessary deaths as of a year and a half ago.
That's 21 times the G. Bush number and includes children, innocents and old folks dying from the collateral hell of collapsing buildings, dirty water, heat, and grief. Plus it's a year and a half old - but that's when they did the homework, the number is substantially higher now.
Paul Hipp, in his awesomely moving and spiritually challenging song has chosen to quote the more conservative, and impossible to dispute without Executive License number. The possible other 900,000 or so dead would surely forgive him the inexactitude in the spirit of Le Guerre, or better still, La Pax.
that is sad and thoughtful song! I t is regrettable that such song writing can never find it's way on to radio today ! If Dylan was trying t make it today, he would never have been heard of ! Here is an amazing song and video about the war that was written shortly after it began amazing foresight and song! You can see why thousands have watched it and commented http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dj3B2XOv9R0
4000 dead and not one piece of news footage of our brave men and women returning home to Andrews AFB in thier flag drapped coffins. Is it out of sight, out of mind George? If you would like to see our 4000 please visit: arlingtonwestsantamonica.org
Sadly beautiful..........He wrote and rewrote his song about how many dead...........the last iteration was 3,800 Souls Gone to Heaven...........and now that's not enough.........
Thank you, Paul Hipp, for giving us the best anti-war music to come out of this horrible mess. I bought your cd online yesterday............incredible. Thank you.
It's a beautiful lament for all who laid down their lives in Iraq.
We, if we consider the coalition forces and Iraqi forces as part of the grand brigade, overshot the 4,000 mark some time ago.
Nonetheless, we need songs like this to stir the conscience of our people.
Adapting the words from a similar song that sadly bemoaned our losses in 'Nam, we are asked:
"When will they ever learn, when will they ever learn?"
The current administration and the McCain, Lieberman, Graham war-loving trio will never learn.
The lyrics were so touching and beautiful. I am so sad for those who still cannot see the folly of this war and send their love ones to fight it . Stop this insanity or there will be no more America to call our own.
More songs will have to be written if Bush and Cheney get to use Kyl-Lieberman to invade Iran. More songs will have to be written if Senator McBombBomb wins in November and spreads HIS war all over the Middle East. It's time to look at the horror of war and back away from ever again engaging in a preemptive war.
Sadly beautiful. Thank you. I've been lamenting the lack of protest songs for this war . . . so I've just been using the ones written for the last tragic disaster. "Where Have All the Flowers Gone," and "Wasn't That a Time?" And now, "4,000 Dead." Let's pray you don't have to rewrite it to 5,000.

Paul -- Thank you for this hauntingly beautiful song. Once again, you sing our hearts.

A heartbreaking song. well done. Thank you paul. God save the USA

so:
3K dead (Americans),9/11
4K dead (Americans) Iraq
=
creeping up on 1.2M dead Iraqis...
that's some interesting arithmetic.
(note the lack of NATO forces counted, Afghani or other 'sundry semi-humans'...)
when we've stacked a 1 : 300,000 ratio, will that be enough for the Leaders of the Free World ?
Because there are billions watching with growing concern.

Listen to Pink's "Dear Mr. President", nothing subtle about it.
