As a native Floridian, I can attest to the fact that Florida government is completely corrupt. In 2005, while living in Tallahassee, Senator Bill Nelson's office had the unmitigated gall to send me an e-mail, which I still have, threatening to have me arrested by Capitol Police if I ever contacted them again--this, after I sent his office a thank-you letter for helping me resolve an issue with the food stamp office of Dept. of Children & Families. His office promised to investigate a health insurance issue, as well as provide me with the list of the Board of Directors, which is supposed to be public information anyway, of Capital Regional Medical Center, an HCA facility that charged me an exorbitant $6000 for a CT scan, after which they had collection henchmen harassing me 24/7 from Orange Park and Kentucky. In the middle of the investigation, the matter was dropped without a by-your-leave. His local office, Orlando office, and Washington office all stopped responding to my e-mails and phone calls, and the next thing I knew, I am threatened with arrest. What a nice, but not surprising, reflection of Florida politics.
I have since joined American Patients for Universal Health Care and have tried to bring attention to the massive health care denials and employment disability discrimination that is business-as-usual in this state, but Governor Crist, Alex Sink, Ray Sansom, and all other legislators I have contacted ignore my e-mails, even ones asking where they stand on the health care crisis (many of whom accept contributions from local health care providers, many of whom refuse to treat patients who cannot afford to pay, no matter how dire their condition). The US Senate Committee on Health, Education, and Labor was caught deleting my e-mails without opening them, so now they just don't open them.
This state, my home, has become a breeding ground of good ol' boyism, special interest politicking, and "public servants" who are nothing more than outhouse window dressing.
There is disenfranchisement in numerous states across the union. Florida for one, has been in the practice since Reconstuction. So, now many the people of this state will finally wake up.
As for Hillary and the votes counting, I did vote as a Democrat but any attempt to change the terms after the fact would not be honest and neither candidate should want the nomination like that.
Besides, from the looks of things statisics mean nothing when the candidate are able to put in time out on the trail.
As for the Dems. the US may be ready for both a female and a minority but WAKE UP to the FACT that HILLARY has the MOST NEGATIVES of all of the candidates. Right or Wrong it is what it is.
Great job again Paul, Glad you commented on the denial that's so huge in the White House. Arianna has spoken repeatedly about it in her writings recently and you echoed it in your song.
But as a Florida Democrat, I think you missed something in the way that we were so casually disenfranchised.
I have been furious about the disenfranchisement of Florida Democratic voters by the DNC, and I find it puzzling and troubling that nobody else seems to give a shirt.
It seems like we fought a couple world wars over the right to vote, but apparently now the DNC can take that away any time they want.
let me ask the clintonites the obvious question since the corporate media will not:
don't they think that if she's so eager to betray the agreement she signed on florida and michigan is a clear sign that once in the white house she will not be willing to betray again on iraq, health care (which she did once before for an $800,000.00 payoff by the health care industry)?: everything you need to know about hillary clinton and her "health care" plan: http://youtube.com/watch?v=9L50shyUoQU
and the republicans, murdock, etc are sitting on the story from the following link as well as a dossiere murdock is keeping on bill's affairs until she gets the nomination -- these stories and the news that the royal saudi family donated twenty million for bill's library and is paying him ten million a year for consultation will energize the (same old BS) with the republican base and lock "more wars and war profits" mccain in as our next president. http://www.lukeford.net/profiles/profiles/huma_abedin.htm
everyone thinks a dem is a shoe-in for 2008 --- awefully cocky and a terrific underestimation of the republican machine... hillary "vetted" my ass --- so go ahead, let the two-faced, win-at-any-cost betrayer get the nomination and watch what happens -- you think you regretted voting for bush? you ain't seen nuttin' yet people.
furthermore: with florida's history of well documented and undeniable voter fraud that hillary (or mccain for that matter) are the genuine winners in florida?
i hope EVERYONE will think long and hard about what is going to happen to this country if hillary or mccain become the president. tragic.
NOTE: to the six thousand PAID hillary bloggers that will try to dispute this post: don't bother and i will not respond to you... we've got your number and you're pathetic human beings.
Just as people from the middle ages discovered, you have to drive a stake through the heart of a vampire to make sure it is dead. The same can be said of the Bush/Cheney presidency and the Bush/Cheney policies.
Remember the days when the words "president" and "presidency" were always capitalized when they refered to the leader of the United States? It is truely sad what this man has done to our country and the image of the office he occupies. In 7 short years he has change the way we think of the presidency. From something nobel and worthy of respect to just a simple word no longer capitalized by many. Coca-Cola fought long and hard to keep it's name from becoming simply "coca-cola". It's too bad that Bush didn't understand the basic business requirement of protecting your corporate image instead of your personal image. If you don't do the first and second will be distroyed as a result.
One good thing you have to say about the Bush term in office, it has created it's own level of protest music. Sadly, little of it is heard by the majority of the people with the level of corporate interests controlling the media.
That's fantastic, Paul!
The thought that immediately jumps to mind is the blissful state of conscious ignorance.
Hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil might be cute for chimps, but nothing loves that attitude more than decay (and our congress, apparently).
I will be watching for more from you.

I'm a Fla. Dem.
My vote doesn't count.
You can say what you wish about DNC
( who arbitrarily, and clumsily handled the matter) rules - whatever.
None of this stacks up the the guiding princpal of our democracy:
"1 man -1 vote"
That trumps everything.
any other consideraton must take a back seat.

Clap.
Very good.
