Hate Talk Express

digg Share this on Facebook Huffpost - stumble reddit del.ico.us RSS

After angry mobs shouted "terrorist" and worse at some of his party's rallies, McCain "doubled down on the anger" (as Arianna so brilliantly put it) for the third debate. WTF?

They reap what they sow. Anger and mistrust. We need answers and solutions.

Normally I try and stay away from the cheerleading but I think a bit of cheering and highly stylize schmaltz is in order here. The candidates are SO different. One candidate makes me feel like I am a suffocating hemorrhoid at a taping of The Lawrence Welk Show (sorry Lawrence). The other makes me feel all giddy and tingly inside, like I could fly away on a magic cloud of hope and possibility. See if you can guess which one is which.

.... (that Tony Nomination wasn't wasted on this Broadway Diva).

The hate bus? Who is driving it?

Within hours of the announcement of Governor Palin's VP nomination the hateful lies started with the "news" that her 6 month old son was not hers. They have continued nonstop ever since to the movie "Nalin Palin" today.

Senator Obama have not had slanderous lies published about his family or an XXX rated movie. Who's driving the bus?

The hate bus express is symptomatic of a frightened over the edge John McCain who is using
every last desperate trick left in his toolbag to snag any gullible voter who is fearful of change,
which is coming one way or the other.
McCain Change: the beginning of another 8 year presidency designed by and for the truly greedy
having it paid for by the truly needy. At this point in time America is in deep trouble
where her wealth is pocketed by renegade corporations piloted by criminally greedy
CEOs who see our impoverished young people as future soldiers for more wars
which will bring more corporate profit and ceo bonuses. And it Continues as it was.
Obama Change: The beginning of a 8 year presidency designed to use Americas resources, what is
left of them, as seed money for new job creation, service, products of industrial
growth restarted here where 5million jobs were outsourced by expediency and
profit incentives for the few.
A national healthcare system modeled after the system Israel has.
The "richest nation in the world" has no national healthcare system but a series of
expensive plans controlled by the multi level insurance corporations. Mr.McCain has selected hate and fear as a desperate strategy to win and is in
itself modeled after what adolf hitler did to achieve the chancellory in Berlin in 1929.
I have a good feeling that We Americans know better and will know what to do on election day.
Sincerely
Charles Solomon

I have to wonder what the Mcain campaign is trying to accomplish. The "hate words" appeal only to those benighted fanatics who never needed any convincing. I assume his fear is that there will be historically low turnout for republicans on election day. So what? Without cutting into Obamas advantage he still cant win. I think they are trying to influence congressio0nal elections, and to set up their post election resistance and obstruction strategy. This is worth figuring out if possible, so it can be dealt with as it comes up.

In reflecting on all the hate words (and a handful of hate crimes) that have been hurled out by McCain/Palin supporters, I was remembering something Chris Rock said:
"I ain't afraid of al Quaeda! I'm afraid of al Crakah!"

Chris Rock has a way of speaking TRUTH in a way that only a comedian with a brain can do.

As a Canadian I have been reluctant to voice an opinion on the current political circus that is pervading our lives - something to be said for a maximum of six weeks from calling an election to holding it.

But the events of the last weeks have provoked me into posting a couple of thoughts.

I find it amazing that there appears to be no indication that the Secret Service is pursuing any investigation of the enthusiastic GOP supporters who screamed "Kill him" at some of the Palin rallies.

There was a time when a threat to kill a presidential candidate generated immediate and aggressive Secret Service activity. Now we are told - "no security personnel heard the comments." I am no law enforcement agent - but I clearly was able to hear them on the videos shown on my television - and I DO know that enhancement technology on such audio can provide substantial information.

Frankly, I am confused. The Republican candidate asserts that "all the people at my events are true blue Americans." Leaving aside the implied comment about others, it makes me wonder if there are indeed some on the right wing of the spectrum who believe that a repetition of the assassinations of the 60's - and I DO remember where I was when JFK, Robert, and MLK were killed - would solve this intractable problem of that uppity fellow who seems to be in the lead. Let us hope..

I was very moved. It makes us remember that we are one nation. We are one people. And that I am my brother's keeper. And I am my sister's keeper. We sink or swim together. That is why people want to come to our country. If these new citizens wanted someone to question their patriotism, they could have stayed in their own foreign country.

I'm amazed how McCain and Palin have eroded in such a short amount ot time (6 weeks) the gains in racism that America has achieved all these years. It makes you wonder that if these two could cause such havoc in 6 short weeks, what will they cause in 4 years? What about in 8?

At just glancing at your post (and reading it incorrectly for a sec), something occurred to me:

Republicans and conservatives: HATRIOTS

Democrats and progressives: PATRIOTS

Paul I'm sure glad you apologized to Lawrence Welk. You had me worried for a second.
When they make the movie about this sorry episode, who do you think will play Rudy Giuliani, since Max Schreck is no longer available?

Is there a lawyer in the house?

We need to start talking legal culpability : when low life are incited enuogh, they'll begin to 'take matters into their own hands',.

The cause and effect is obvious.

It's easy to dismiss people yelling "terrorist!" in reference to Obama as being part of a 'fringe'. But :

What if the Obamas had paraded five children across the stage, including a three-month-old infant and an unwed, pregnant teenage daughter?
What if John McCain was a former president of the Harvard Law Review?
What if Barack Obama finished fifth from the bottom of his graduating class?
What if McCain had only married once, and Obama was a divorcee?
What if Obama was the candidate who left his first wife after a severe disfiguring car accident?
What if Obama had met his second wife in a bar and had a long affair while he was still married?
What if Michelle Obama was the wife who became addicted to painkillers and acquired them illegally through her charitable organization?
What if Cindy McCain graduated from Harvard?
What if Obama had been a member of the Keating Five?
What if McCain was a charismatic, eloquent speaker?
What if Obama couldn't read from a teleprompter?
What if Obama was the one who had military experience that included discipline problems and a record of crashing seven planes?
What if Obama was the one who was known to display publicly, on many occasions, a serious anger management problem?
What if Michelle Obama's family had made their money from beer distribution?

This is what racism does. It covers up, rationalizes and minimizes positive qualities in one candidate and emphasizes negative qualities in another.
