The greatest thing that this country has exported since Rock And Roll is without a doubt WOMEN'S BEACH VOLLEYBALL! It has it all. Skill, competition, grace, majesty and girls hugging each other in their underwear in the sand! Who else could have come up with that? NOBODY BUT THE USA BABY! (Who's got Olympic USA fever? I do!)
In a few days the Olympics will end and we in America will get back to watching John McCain try and remember how many houses he has and in China the government will go back to removing vital organs from prisoners of conscience to sell on e-bay. But we will always remember that in 2008 the world turned it's gaze to The People Republic Of China for two weeks- not to pull together as one in the name of human rights and nosiness to put pressure on the bad people to be decent to the peoples people - but in order to watch girls in their bikinis play volleyball on the beach! ....Huh?
Here is what came out of my head after The Olympics and Bush and Putin and War and Peace and Victory and Defeat and Pop Music and Oppression and Volleyball went in.....
Oh yeah, and please go to my web site and buy my cd and you will like it and I will pay my rent and make more nice songs for you. Thanks.

-I've just had the song in my head ever since I saw your title days ago, for some reason... But I'm glad for it. I love that song.
An instant cl(ass)ic!
Keep on rockin' in the free world, Paul. While it's still free.
Frankly, and maybe you have to be from somewhere other than California to see this, the game is nothing compared to other Olympic sports. The sand keeps the players from moving with any alacrity and takes away much of the excitement of rallies and saves that make real volleyball so terrific.
Lastly, if all you want to do is look at women in swimsuits, I would recommend the diving competition or a day at your local beach. The women's volleyball players lack the requisite contrast in hip, bust and waist that makes for optimum viewing.
I guess you still had ladies volleyball on the brain when you typed this sentence! ;-) Thanks, Paul, for great post and CD; and I will encourage people to "but" and buy your CD.
That contrasts to men's beach volleyball where the game is uneven and the action too quick to really enjoy. And contrasts to swimming which is totally boring, it's amazing what they can hype people into watching.
