I am not watching anymore war shows on The History Channel or any other channel until after George "Water-Board" Bush and Dick "The Animal" Cheney are safely back in their holes and out of The White House. They wrecked it. Water-Boarding?! How am I supposed to feel superior to the Germans and the Japanese?! After all, water-boarding is just a gateway drug. What's next? What else will become acceptable? It is a slippery slope. Bottom line: We don't torture! Did Audie Murphy ever water-board a guy? No way!
Oh well, since it's okay to torture people allow me to torture you
with a little song called "Water-Board! Water-Board!" Open up your
windows and sing along!

Why should Americans have to feel superior to any other country? Don't understand this at all ...
Torture is torture and it is in contravenes the Geneva Convention. It should not be allowed . . . America has a lot of crimes to answer for . .. impeachment is the way to start redressing them.
I actually fully agree with Feinsteins, and Schumers decision to back Mukasey. I would love for Feinstein to become the Californian Joe Lieberman.
Keith Olbermann just made a searing, powerful commentary denouncing this administration (and any cowardly Congresspeople) for even considering that waterboarding is not torture. (It's been used as such for hundreds of years.) He also called the adminsitration "fascist" - first time I've heard that on the MSM (I think)! Transcript will be on MSNBC in 24 hrs. I hope the video is on youtube soon! It is a great commentary!
Only thing is, I wouldn't compare waterboarding to taking drugs. While using recreational drugs could be considered a form of entertainment that has broad appeal, most people would not find it entertaining to torture others.
It's likely torturers come in two categories. Most probably simply place a higher value following orders than on doing what is morally right. War resister Camilo Mejia indicates he was once in this category. When he went to Iraq, he complied with orders to beat on containers holding prisoners in order to deprive them of sleep. (Later he understood that what he was doing in Iraq was wrong, and that is why he heroically resisted the war.)
In the second category would be those who enjoy torturing. Among them would be sadists who derive sexual pleasure from inflicting pain and fear on others.
No civilized society would allow torture in any form.
.
I am always amazed at how innocent the american public is, torture in american military, police departments, prisons has existed for many years, only difference today than in past the authorities and politicians do not hide it anymore, do not deny it, they have glib justifications for it now, if anyone does just one little bit of research torture, murder, assisination has existed in american politics since this nation was formed, only difference is the players are arrogant today, they do not fear punishment, and have no fear of being exposed and punished, since Nixon pulled off the most arrogant get out of jail card the republicans know even if convicted they can get their co-conspirators too pardon them...
Indeed waterboarding is just a gateway drug. Mark my words if torture is accepted in the war on terror then watch for it to come to a police station near you!
First they came for the communists and I did nothing because I wasn't a communist. Then they came for the socialists and I did nothing. Then they came for the gays....tick tock, tick tock. Peace
No one is considering the following questions. Where do the torturers come from? How are they recruited? How are they trained? What happens when they leave the services and return to the USA? Oh, maybe they come from somewhere else.
Now this is a well kept secret. So who is going to give us the answers?
As soon as I can stop laughing, Paul, I'm going to ask you to MARRY ME!!!!! You get me right where I live every single time. I think I love you!
I don't think they should have torture. Period.
Why? Well, because it's a hooligan method of
doing business, and we don't need hooliganism,
we need a publicly accountable government
and a disciplined military service. That's the
'well-regulated militia' thing. Instead, we've
got an institution with runaway carte blanche,
and an administration that has no qualms about
rewriting whatever law might cramp their style.
Well, curiously, they keep saying they have
difficulty finding people to put in those
uniforms. Hmm...maybe runaway authority and
the grand mega-larceny that's gone along with
it is unpalatable and unconscionable to people?
Maybe that's why they have to have the
mercenaries etc. Maybe the whole thing's a
crock of shit, and we need to throw the oil
companies out of the White House.

Paul,
A "fun" look at waterboarding...
Now for any who read here, please Google Richard Blum or Peter Byrne, the author of a 3 part expose on Feinstein's war-profiteering husband and her control of his bids through her seat on the committee that oversees such things.

There is a reason she caved to Bush on this nomination and why Pelosi is right beside her.
We need to remove them both! Please share with friends in her district and help get the movement going!
get this...I don't know if water boarding is torture...I don't know if OJ killed his wife and friend...I don't know if the Supreme Court uses the law or personal opinions in deciding a case...I don't know tha CEO's are cooking the books...I don't know none of the above because I am not a lawyer...come on give me a break...I don't have to be a lawyer to conclude that money talks and makes leaders of industry, government, media and religion be political and seek to screw Anericans the Stupid.
I really don't know why you would feel superior to the Germans and Japanese to begin with after having killed 4 million people in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, 2 million people in Iraq since 1991 including the sanctions, after slavery, the genocide against the Native Americans and the CIA-financed death squads in Nicaragua and El Salvador.
Also, didn't your president's family make all its money by dealing with Nazi war criminals?
