Paul is the quintessential cosmopolitan Jew - ill at ease no matter where he is (A. Koestler). Like Woody Allen, he regrets only that h wasn't born someone else - preferably Clint Eastwood or Bill Maher. He lived in Budapest until the '56 Revolt, escaped to the US, "matured" for 24 years in Detroit and Denver, an icon of the American Dream. Zionist zeal zent him merrily muddling along in the Muddled East - the land of his Foreskinless Forefathers - for another 24 years. 3 sons and 2 daughters have proudly served in the Israel Defense Forces (as has Paul - Paratrooper, Reserves). With Holocaust survivor parents he KNOWS Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Hence, he gets into heavy discussions & light flirtations; yearns to humble the arrogant, fight the "good fight" (charges windmills), challenge the smug; Paul loves: Solitude, silence, spirituality, nature; current affairs - NPR, BBC, NYT, the HuffPost; high-volume stereo singing along with Orbison, CCR, Rait, Motown, James Taylor, The Eagles. He wrestles with G-d to understand His will.

An aging anachronism from the Age of Aquarius, Paul is an underemployed Criminal Defense Attorney and closet writer/journalist. He was a prosecutor in Golden, CO for 5 years and a handyman in Israel for 20 years. His long hiatus from law practice was partly induced by his role in Israel in the extradition and prosecution of John "Ivan the Terrible" Demjanjuk for Nazi War Crimes. It turned out that the accused was not "Ivan the Terrible" (of Treblinka) just "Ivan the Very, Very Bad" (of Sobibor) saving John/Ivan from the gallows and - most ironically - saving the Jewish State from having any further prosecution of Nazis. As in "Good Will Hunting", Paul maintains an irrationally fierce loyalty to his working class roots. He adores movies, nauseated by TV. Spectator sports induce a yawn. Ageing didn't end a happy childhood. He makes friends and enemies with equal grace. He is the sum of all his (many) wounds. While freely confessing to hypo-addiction to the Internet, Paul is no lonesome loser with a laptop.
